Arsenal 3 - Newcastle 0

When people ask 'Why London?', I say 'Because there is always something happening.' Take tonight for example. Here I am, planning a quiet night at home when the phone rings and I am offered 2 free tickets to see Arsenal play Newcastle.

It was our first premiership game. In fact, I think it was our first ever soccer game and like the other 60,000 people we had a ball. Man these crazy English can make some noise. Not knowing anything about either team, we had to go for Arsenal as we were surrounded by red and white.

It did make for a late night for Jack, but if he is tired at school tomorrow, then I am sure the principal will understand. They were her season passes after all.

Chalk up another instance of 'London... never a dull moment.'

Australia Day weekend in Tuscany

Yeah, I know. It has been a long time between posts and I am not going to try to catch up, as I have such an exciting life. This weekend, Jack and I traveled to Bologna and Pisa. We managed to grab flights to Bologna and 3 nights accommodation in 4* hotels all for the princely sum of £180. We spent each evening walking the streets and enjoying the warm Italian evenings. Ok, so not exactly warm, but compared to London, it was very enjoyable.

We flew into Bologna on Thursday evening and just walked the streets finding the lay of the land. On Friday we did a few museums and churches before hopping on a train to Florence and from there to Pisa. It was dusk by the time we found the hotel in Pisa but still wanted to see the Leaning Tower, so walked up to the Piazza. Wow. It was breathtaking.

Saturday we climbed the tower and visited most of the other major sites. Being Australia day, we also found a Contiki tour of Aussies and got some great photos before being chased away by the local police.

Sunday we took the train back to Florence and had a quick poke around before heading back to Bologna and London. All in all a great trip and would definitely return. A huge difference to our trip to Rome over a year ago now.
