HSMP - Approved

With 30 days to go until I leave for London, my application for the Highly Skilled Migrant Program (HSMP) has been approved. To say that I am a little excited is an understatement. I was dancing around the kitchen once I had peered through my fingertips to read the letter. My dancing has not improved.
I didn't realise how much I had built up on the application until I was able to release it. YEE HAA..

So what does this mean? This means that I can now apply for a Visa without requiring proof of income, finance or any means of support. For an employer, it means that I have a stable migration status and my credentials have been checked by the Home Office.

I will now send the HSMP approval letter with my Visa application form and then we are away. No more doubts about going and staying or having to fudge a job. I will sleep well tonight.

Less than 6 weeks to go

It has been a while since I last blogged and lots has happened since then. The highlights as I remember them include
  • Seeing Kevin 'Bloody' Wilson play live at Kedron Wavell. Very funny night.
  • Trip to Sydney to do a presentation for Ernst & Young decision makers. (though they have as yet to actually make one)
  • Seeing The Living End at the Exhibition Centre. Totally awesome, though the crowd was very young.
  • Sold some major stuff including all my massage gear, outdoor furniture and the gym equipment.
In the weight stakes, I have been holding steady, but I just got some major motivation when I found that a friend had dropped 48 Kg since Christmas. So now I am walking in the morning, swimming at lunch-time and stretching every night. We will see how long this lasts.

I have started working on PapaStew.com. I have had this domain for years and never got around to doing anything with it. Not sure what I am going to use it for, but am going for a single page, Ajax and CSS driven site. I have started by putting in the div tags, but am now going back to Photoshop to start working on the design.

I have still not heard any news on my Visa application. I will try to call them this week to find out what is going on. I know they received it because they took the application fee out of my account. With only 6 weeks until I leave, there is still so much to do. I have to sell the rest of my extra stuff including my car, organise storage, pack and decide what essentials to take. Better go and get on with it now.
